Analysis Entity

Analysis entity refers to users being analyzed. In different scenarios, it may be necessary to use different entities for analysis. For example:

  • Count the number of new users based on visitor IDs.
  • Analyze the payment amount based on account IDs.
  • Analyze the retention rate based on role IDs.
  • Analyze the registration and conversion based on device IDs.

1. Entity Management

After we unlock the feature for you, you can find it under "Analysis -> Analysis Entity".

In SolarEngine, there are three preset analysis entities that cannot be deleted, "_user_ID (default)", "_account_ID" and "_distinct_ID". You can create new entities as needed.

2. Add New Entity

Clicking on the "Create" button will open a pop-up window. Enter the entity name and select the data source. Note that the entity name should be unique, and that the data source should be one of the existing numeric-type or string-type event properties or user properties.

You can create multiple analysis entities for future use. The number of custom analysis entities you can create is determined by the quota set for the admin account.

3. Delete Entity

To avoid any potential impact that deleting entities may exert on saved reports, only entities that are not used in any reports can be deleted.

If an entity is already being used in reports, you can change the report's entity and then proceed with the deletion, or delete the entire report and then delete the entity.

4. The Application of Entity

Every analysis model in SolarEngine is equipped with an entity selector (see pic above), but the changes made will only take effect when calculating user-related metrics, such as UV or average per user. If calculating metrics unrelated to user count, such as total event count, changing the analysis entity will not make a difference.

As funnel analysis, retention analysis, and distribution analysis are all related to user count, so changing the entity will take effect for the whole analysis model and may result in data difference. For example:

When setting user ID as the entity, the system may identify 100 users and 80 of them reopened the app the next day, so the retention-D1 is 80%. When switching the entity as role ID, the system may identify 150 users, as one player may create multiple game roles, and 100 of them may reopen the app the next day, so the retention rate will be about 66%.

5. Permission Explanation

Operation Permissions: Super Admin, Group Admin, Analyst, Regular Sub-account with assigned permissions.
