Before A/B Testing

A clear and comprehensive plan is recommended to ensure the success of the A/B testing. Here are some key procedures that your plan should cover:

  • Propose a question:

Why is the conversion rate of the activity page not high enough?

  • Establish a hypothesis:

Making the "Next Step" button more noticeable may lead to a higher conversion rate.

  • Develop a plan:

Variations: Design different buttons and track button clicks.

Sample Size: Determine the required traffic for the experiment.

Duration: Estimate number of days needed to run the experiment.

Platform: Android/iOS

Target Audience: Target users participating in the experiment.

  • Validate the assumption:

Create an experiment group with a more noticeable "Next Step" button and launch it concurrently with the control group (original version). The two versions should be exposed to two separate user groups with similar attributes. Track the click-through rate respectively.

  • Draw a data-driven conclusion:

If the alternative button design successfully improves the conversion rate, the assumption is validated. Otherwise, it is necessary to return to step two and establish a new hypothesis.

  • Extend the validated results:

Push the winning version from the A/B testing to all users.
