Funnel Analysis is used to track the conversion rate and churn rate between each step along the user journey.
Funnels analysis support both single-level conversion analysis and multi-level conversion analysis, allowing flexible customization based on the analysis scenario. Funnels analysis is commonly used to analyze the conversion of events within a specific time window, such as:
Funnel Analysis can be used to answer the following questions:
When combined with result grouping, it is possible to compare the conversion performance of each group at each step, for example:
SolarEngine funnel analysis looks like this:
Each step represents a specific action within the conversion funnel. Add at least two steps for funnel analysis.
Note that a conversion is considered complete and successful only when the user completes all set steps in the funnel one by one. For example, there are 5 steps labeled as ABCDE, while a user interacts with the app in the order of CABCED. Despite completing all the steps, the conversion path still starts from A and ends with C. Then the user drops off.
Using associated properties, you can specify a property shared by each step, and only when a subsequent step event occurs with the same property value as the previous step event, it is considered a conversion event. If only a step event occurs but the value of the property is different from that of the previous step event, it is not treated as a conversion event.
Please see Event Analysis—Conditional Filtering.
Please see Event Analysis—Group Display.
When "Completed Within" is selected as "Same day", both the initial event and subsequent events will only include events that occur on the current calendar day.
When "Completed Within" is selected as "Daily level -> 1 Day", subsequent events can only include events that occurred within 24 hours after the initial event.
The window period represents the maximum time to complete a conversion. For example, in a funnel analysis of ABCDE with a conversion window of 1 day, if I analyze this funnel on May 1, users who triggered Event A on May 1 are considered as initial users. These users can be counted as completing the entire conversion if they sequentially complete steps BCDE within 24 hours after Event A. If only B and C are completed in sequence within 24 hours, then this user only completed partial conversion.
After setting the conditions for funnel analysis, click on "Calculate ", the calculated results will be displayed in the result display area.
In funnel analysis, the conversion rate for each step is calculated by dividing the number of converted users for that step by the number of converted users from the previous step.
When analyzing churn rate, the churned users for each step represents the users who had the previous step but did not continue with this one. The churn rate for each step is calculated by dividing the number of churned users for that step by the number of converted users from the previous step.
Using the step selector, you can choose the specific steps you are interested in from the already configured steps without having to reconfigure the calculation conditions. This allows you to display the data in charts and tables. The charts or tables will only display the selected start and end steps from the step selector.
When there are grouping options available, the funnel chart can only display one group at a time in the chart.
The line graph displays the overall conversion or churn rate at various time granularities.
